What's the difference between Indica and Sativa?

You can find a TON of information about the differences online, but I'm assuming you're here for a reason! The major differences in the effects you're going to have are going to depend on this classification, but the terpenes in each strain are going to make even more of a difference. Let's start with the basics, shall we?

If you're able to see the plants, you'll notice a huge difference right away!


Indica: classified by their short, broad leaves and thick, dense buds. These leaves are dark green in color. Indicas are typically used for pain relief and treating insomnia since they're more sedative. Some common indica strains include:

  • blueberry

  • northern lights

  • granddaddy perp

  • grapefruit

  • afghani

  • hindu kush

  • white widow

  • romulan

  • g-13


Sativa: classified by their tall, long, thin/spikey leaves. Sativas are typically used for migraines, appetite stimulation, energy, and nausea relief. Some common indica strains include:

  • haze

  • trainwreck

  • columbia gold

  • panama red

  • sour diesel

  • jack herer

  • maui wowie
